Well first off, the Dixon Manner received a new addition July 5th! No, Tracey didn't get that dog she wants... Krysta's brother, Blake came to intern for the second half of the summer and he's staying here in the upstairs guestroom. He's pretty awesome for more than one reason:
-He's really nice
-He knows how to do handstands
-He has really dense curly hair
-He likes to dance like a maniac with me
-He can do back flips
-He can play the piano and sing
-We just flat out have a lot in common
So yeah its been cool having Blake here to hang out with when he's not been at the Social Work site with Cailah.
I was also able to work with the last few teams that have been here which was really awesome. An all ladies team from The Well church in Fresno came for 2 weeks. The second week I was able to go and work at the guarderia and help Tracey and the team there. We painted a mural on the front porch that really transformed the atmosphere there. lol. I'll have to post a pic some time. The ladies on that team were so great and fun to get to know. There was a Vision team that came the first week also but I didn't get to see them very much. My good friend Shellie was leading it so I was able to hang out with her a little which was so nice. The next team that came was a mixed team from 2 churches in Virginia. They were so much fun to work and fellowship with. I definitely gained wisdom and insight from them as well.
This is the team from Virginia
This past week all the staff including Blake and I went with the last team of the summer out to the jungle. There was a group from Texas, a group from Visalia, 2 individuals and 2 Ticos. The leader from the Texas group has a cousin who married a Tico. They adopted a family of Tico kids. Two of them were able to come with us and I totally fell in love with them. Anyway... We did a lot of painting and construction. I pretty much just painted all week. It was really cool for me to meet new people from my home town. I really wanna check out their college group at Grace Lutheran when I come back home. Plus its really close to my house :) Unfortunately I forgot my camera at home so I'll have to steal some photos from other people.
So its been really awesome over the past month. Sorry again for not updating more often.
